Tuva Health Launches Open-Source Platform to Transform Healthcare Analytics Industry

Tuva Health launched publicly with $5 million in seed funding and introduced its open-source healthcare data transformation platform.

The round was led by Virtue, with participation from Box Group, Y Combinator, and health technology angel investors. The funding was announced alongside Tuva’s work with more than 25 partners focused on making healthcare analytics more transparent and accessible.

Tuva helps payers, providers, pharmaceutical companies, and other healthcare organizations transform claims and EHR data into analytics-ready tables through an open-source data model. The platform includes built-in normalization, data quality testing, enrichment, and reusable healthcare analytics logic.

The company was founded to make healthcare data transformation open, transparent, and customizable. Many healthcare organizations want to use their data to improve care, identify better treatment pathways, support evidence-based decisions, and reduce costs, but they often lack the resources to build and maintain the required analytics infrastructure themselves.

Traditional black-box data platforms can limit transparency, accessibility, and control. Tuva takes a different approach by running inside the customer’s cloud data warehouse and giving organizations control over their data infrastructure without requiring a large upfront platform build.

The launch announcement also highlighted Tuva’s community-driven model. At launch, the Tuva community included more than 1,500 healthcare data and analytics practitioners contributing to a reusable standard for healthcare analytics. As new methods and approaches are developed, the community can review them, improve them, and apply them across datasets.

Tuva’s open-source model allows customers and partners to continuously refine healthcare analytics methods instead of relying on proprietary definitions that cannot be inspected. Once new methods are released into the open source project, customers and partners can run them on their own data.

The announcement cited early adoption by organizations including Oscar Health and CareAbout Health, which used Tuva to increase control and transparency over their data while reducing costs.
